‘I cannot escape!’ – Rob McElhenney sarcastically thanks Ryan Reynolds after getting unwelcome surprise on Wrexham’s U.S pre-season tour
Wrexham have already begun their United States pre-season tour as they took on Bournemouth in a 1-1 draw at Harder Stadium in California. Reynolds was not present in person but he did have a surprise set for McElhenney, as he sent the ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ actor a hand-drawn portrait of himself – the same Titanic-inspired one that he pranked his Wrexham business partner with on his last birthday.
McElhenney posted the photo on X, and wrote: “Had no idea this would be on the Wrexham summer tour. I truly cannot escape. Thanks, Ryan Reynolds and Vistaprint.”

During the clash against Bournemouth, Wrexham held their own. The Red Dragons benefitted from a James Hill own-goal as they took the lead before Marco Senesi’s header equalised for the Cherries. Wrexham will be hoping that their draw will mark the start of a good pre-season as they warm up for the start of their 2024-25 League One campaign.
The Red Dragons will next take on Chelsea on July 25 at Levi’s Stadium before they travel to Canada to face Major League Soccer side the Vancouver Whitecaps on July 28.
